Top Stade Toulouse wing Timoci Matanavou is one of the most sensational wings in Europe and has overcome many obstacles to live his dream to play rugby in one of the most successful rugby clubs in the world.

Speaking to Fijivillage in France, Matanavou said starting from Ra then moving to Drasa in Lautoka and then to Qauia, strengthened him to be one of the best in the game.

Matanavou, who is Sireli Bobo’s brother, is followed by many in Toulouse and France as a whole.

Many say he is part of France as he knows the language and always delivers a good game for Toulouse.

Matanavou speaks fluent French and said he had to do this to overcome the language barrier.

An emotional Matanavou also shared what he misses in France as he cannot come home for Christmas due to the Top 14 competition running through the festive season into the new year.

The former Drasa Secondary and RKS student said he always focuses on making his family proud.

Matanavou also has a motto - always respect yourself and respect others.

Matanavou’s contract ends in 2017 however talks are already underway for him to continue playing until 2020.

Meanwhile, Matanavou has already gone into the real estate business to ensure that he has a secure future after rugby.
