The Singapore Cooperation Enterprise’s work on the Master Plan for the Greater Suva area and Nadi-Lautoka will be completed in mid-2021.
Minister for Local Government Premila Kumar says it will add significantly to the strategic planning that is needed to successfully plan for future generations.
Kumar says the Master Plans they are developing will emphasise the greater certainty in commercial zoning, the building of ring roads around cities to move heavy traffic from inner urban roads and the decentralization so that transport hubs and community infrastructure are placed throughout the suburbs thus decreasing the travel distances for Fijians as they live, work, shop and play.
This long-term planning document will provide a blueprint to guide future growth and development until 2075.
