The story of Swire Shipping Fijian Drua player Iosefo Masi is an inspiration to every young rugby player who grows up dreaming of wearing the white jersey.
The 25-year-old did not play any rugby during his primary school days as he was enrolled in an Indo-Fijian school where he mostly participated in football.
Speaking to fijivillage News, Masi says his rugby career started when he attended Suva Grammar School, where he was part of the school’s U18 rugby team for the secondary school deans competition.
He says his dream growing up was to play for Fiji, and he cannot believe that he has achieved his dream of playing for the national 7s and 15s side.
Masi says he aims to better his performance this season and hopes to be selected for the Flying Fijians team for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia.
The Olympic gold medalist is advising upcoming rugby players to do the small things right, always put God first and listen to their parents.
The Drua kick off their Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific campaign against the Blues on February 24th in Auckland.
