Maryann Macedru of St Joseph's Secondary School has broken the intermediate girls shot put record set by Adi Cakobau School athlete Sereseini Savui in 2007.
The old record stood at 12.52 metres and Macedru threw a distance of 13.27 metres today.
Macedru says she is grateful to God for providing her with the strength to compete and also to come out victorious.
She has dedicated her win to her parents, the SJSS students and supporters.
