The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji says investigations will begin tomorrow regarding the incident where two inter-island vessels almost collided at the Nabouwalu jetty at about midday Friday.
This has been confirmed to Fijivillage by the Chairman of MSAF David Kolitagane who says that they will not be able to give any further information until the investigation is completed.
Meanwhile Minister for Transport, Faiyaz Koya told us that more than 100 passengers were onboard both the ships.
Koya says the two captains of the Lomaiviti Princess VIII and MV Ohana have been suspended pending investigations.
He says the operators of both ships have been informed.
The Minister says MSAF has acted very swiftly on the matter.
