Marist Brothers High School now has an $8 million upgraded sports field.
Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou who officiated at the opening of the new sports field in Flagstaff today says the sports field is an international rugby field, and also has a 100m running track and a 15m jumping pit.
The upgrade work was fully funded and completed by the government of Guangdong Province of China.
Tuitubou says as part of the bilateral agreement, the Chinese government will also upgrade another sports field at Saint John Bosco Primary School in Nasinu.
He says the facilities will allow the youth to develop and showcase their talents and skills and having an international standard facility will motivate the students to aspire towards greater accomplishments in life.
Marist Brothers High School Principal Timaima Sew says she is grateful for the upgrade of the sports field as this will help students to be physically fit and also to do well in their academic work.
She says Guangdong Province has also gifted them 4 interactive whiteboards, 2 P.A System sets, laptops, desktops and other stationary worth $100,000 which will be used by the students.
