Acting Prime Minister and Marist Old Boy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the Marist Old Boys network should always focus on the motto of the Marist Brothers which is to be inclusive.
While opening the Mobilise meeting at Studio 6 in Suva today, Sayed-Khaiyum said some of them who were privileged to be taught by the brothers know that they were extremely inclusive not just in the education sector but also in terms of the recruitment of people and how they dealt with communities around them.
He says the Marist Old Boys need to look at ways on how to get thousands of ex students who are not part of the network as they are missing out on a group of people who will actually contribute if the network makes them feel inclusive.
While speaking on ensuring that the MOB network needs to be inclusive, Sayed-Khaiyum also said that in his opinion Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama is the father of modern day Fiji and has done a lot to bring everyone together.
Sayed-Khaiyum also spoke about the education made free for early childhood, primary and secondary school students, the Toppers Scholarships that are given out on merit, the tertiary education loan scheme, the opening up of 13 technical colleges and infrastructure developments like the highway from Nabouwalu to Savusavu.
He says equal opportunities are being offered to people and we now have 15,000 students in universities who have taken the tertiary education loans to further their education.
