Marist Brothers’ High School 1 has been crowned the new champion of the Vodafone Fiji Secondary School Basketball National Championship boys’ U19 division after defeating Yat Sen Secondary School 28-24 in the final this evening.
In the U19 girls’s division, defending champion Suva Grammar School and Adi Cakobau School have agreed to share the title after the game was disrupted by rain with 4 minutes remaining in the second half.
After more than an hour of waiting for the rain to clear and the playing surface to dry, the management and players agreed to share the title for the benefit of the safety and welfare of the players .
Meanwhile, in other results from other grades, in the U15, Suva Grammar defended their girls’ title after defeating Latter Day Saints 15-4 and International School Suva defeated Tilak High School 25-13 to claim the boys’ title.
In the U17 grade, Suva Grammar also defended their gilr’ title after beating Gospel High School 26-1 while Yat Sen Secondary defended the boys’ title after edging Suva Grammar 20-19.
