The Australian High Commissioner to Fiji, Margaret Twomey has officially taken up her position.
Twomey presented her credentials to the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau at the Government House yesterday.
During her visit to Fiji late last month, Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop had confirmed that the new High Commissioner is ready to take up the appointment.
Twomey started her career as Desk officer, East Europe Analyst in 1989 after which she joined the Australian High Commission in Fiji as Deputy High Commissioner in 2002.
Twomey, who speaks French and Russian, has represented her country in diplomatic missions in Russia and East Timor in various capacities.
There is still no confirmation on when Fiji is expected to conclude its selection of a High Commissioner to Australia.
