Naivakarurubalavu Mara will be Fiji’s next Ambassador to the United States of America.
This has been confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The American Government has agreed to the appointment of Mara.
Mara had been Fiji’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ambassador to Germany, Denmark, Israel, Ireland and the Holy See from September 2011 to 2015.
Mara who hails from Kadavu says that he and his family are honoured and privileged to be called up again to represent Fiji’s interests abroad, this time to the world’s leading economic power‑house and one of the most influential political capitals in the world.
He says that he is looking forward to the challenge of this new posting to Washington DC and is confident that he will be able to build on the work of his predecessors in seeking out opportunities and raising the economic and socio‑political profile of Fiji in the US, Canada and Mexico to benefit the Government and the people of Fiji.
