That was the comment from the manager of TOTAL Fairway Service Station in Nabua, Mukesh Chand after receiving complaints from some customers this week.
Chand said he has been talking to customers about the self-service which kicked off this morning, however he has been receiving mixed reactions.
He said the customers need their service.
While Kundan Singh service station confirmed that 11 employees have been laid off from different sites as of today, the Director of Tradewinds Marine Limited John Phillip who runs Total Hibiscus in Suva, Total Lami and Total Lautoka autoport said they have been keeping a minimum number of employees.
Meanwhile the Transport Workers Union has called on authorities to look into the accounts of the service station owners who claim that they are not making profits.
Transport Workers Union General Secretary, Kamlesh Kumar said although these workers are not members of the union they feel for these workers and that finding alternative employment is almost impossible.
Kumar said the fuel retailers have chosen to reduce labor force costs as the easy way out which is not fair.
