A 36‑year‑old man who allegedly stabbed a police officer inside the Nakasi Police Station on June 26th has been remanded in custody by the High Court in Suva.
Veramu Navuso is charged with one count of act with intent to cause grievous harm.
Defence lawyer, Lavenia David has made an application for Navuso to be remanded at St. Giles for psychiatric evaluation.
Judge, Justice Thushara Rajasinghe has adjourned the case to next Monday so both counsels can inform the court of proper procedures.
The police officer, Corporal Manoj Mani sustained serious injuries.
Corporal Mani was on duty when the suspect allegedly entered the station and stabbed the officer on the back of his head and back with a small kitchen knife.
