The man who allegedly attempted to set fire to the Totogo Police Station in September last year has been granted bail by the Suva High Court under strict conditions due to his medical condition and mental health.
Rakai appeared before High Court Judge Justice Thushara Kumarage this afternoon.
Justice Kumarage has ordered Rakai to visit the Saint Giles Hospital at the earliest to determine his treatment plan while on bail.
He has also ordered that his treatment order and plan be provided to the High Court and to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions or his bail would be revoked.
Justice Kumarage has also ordered that if in any case Rakai defaults in medication plans or treatment, bail will be revoked.
He has also ordered that all three sureties that have been provided to the Court have the responsibility to report if the accused relapses or is showing signs of relapse.
The police officer ordered by the Court to conduct investigation can conduct random checks on the property, talk with sureties and if the officer finds the accused unstable or his environment unstable, must report it to the Court.
Rakai must report to the Flagstaff Police Station every Friday.
The prosecution did not object to bail.
33-year-old Rakai is charged with one count of attempt to commit arson, two counts of damaging property and one count of criminal intimidation.
The matter has been adjourned to the 13th of March to fix a date for the trial.
