Man pleads not guilty to a charge of rape

A man charged with raping a 64-year-old woman pleaded not guilty to the charge in the Suva High Court yesterday.

The alleged incident happened in April this year in Valelevu.

The defence counsel informed the judge that the man claims he was beaten at the remand centre and he wanted an order so that he can be seen at the CWM Hospital.

The judge granted the order.

His trial will be held in October.
