A family is mourning the loss of a loved one following an accident near the Navave Bridge in Bua last night.
Police say the man who was from Nasawana Village was trapped inside the vehicle he was driving after it veered off the road causing it to land upside down in a nearby river.
They say a 20-year-old man who was a passenger managed to get out of the vehicle and alerted others for help.
Police managed to bring the victim out of the car with the help of other villagers.
The man was taken to the Nabouwalu Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The national road death toll currently stands at 8 compared to 9 for the same period last year.
