A man has been jailed for 5 years and 10 months for robbing a man of $195 and a mobile phone in New Town on 9th August this year.
Semi Tabua pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated robbery.
It was heard in court that Tabua apologised for his actions and said that he was drunk when he committed the crime.
While delivering his sentence, High Court Judge Thurshara Rajasinghe says pleading guilty to this offence at the first available opportunity shows that Tabua has expressed and shown his remorse.
Justice Rajasinghe says tabua is entitled for a substantial discount for his early guilty plea.
A non-parole period of 3 years 10 months has also been set.
