An Indian National has been admitted in the Labasa Hospital after suffering cuts to his thumb while operating on a cane harvester at a farm in Waiqele, Labasa.
The man works for the Labasa Cane Producers Association.
The President of the Labasa Cane Producers Association, Mohammed Rafique says the man was attending a malfunction in the switch of the cane harvester and had not switched off the engine.
Rafique says the man's hand got stuck in the fan belt which was close to the switch.
He says the man is under an insurance scheme and his family in India has been informed about the incident.
