Manchester City has moved to the top of the English Premier League points table for at least a day with a predictably dominant 5-1 victory over a struggling Luton Town.
City led after only 65 seconds at Etihad Stadium when Erling Haaland's wayward volley hit Luton's Daiki Hashioka before flying into the net.
Mateo Kovacic doubled City’s after more than an hour while Haaland scored another goal through penalty after Jeremy Doku was fouled by Fred Onyedinma.
Just after City made a double change, Ross Barkley took advantage of a Matheus Nunes mistake to score a try for Luton.
But Doku cut in from the left to slot a fine solo goal into the bottom corne and set up City's fifth for Josko Gvardiol.
City are two points clear at the top, although Liverpool who take on Crystal Palace - and Arsenal, who host Aston Villa, can move back above them tomorrow.
Luton remain in the relegation zone.
In other matches this morning, Newcastle beat Tottenham 4-0, Brentford beat Sheffield United 2-0, Burnley and Brighton finished the match 1-1, Nottingham Forest and Wolves finished the match 2-2 while Bournemouth and Manchester United also finished the match 2-2-2.
City leads the EPL table with 73 points, Arsenal and Liverpool have 71 points each but Arsenal with a better goal difference is second place while Aston Villa has 60 points in 4th place.
