Malakai Smith who is charged with one count of unlawful cultivation of illicit drugs appeared in the Suva High Court today.
He had earlier pleaded not guilty to the charge.
It is alleged that he cultivated 283 plants of marijuana in Kadavu.
The state has been given 14 to 21 days to finalize pre-trial conference matters.
