Major upgrade works will be carried out at Ratu Cakobau Park to prevent any future issues with its floodlights.

A few of the floodlights went off during the semifinals of the Vodafone Fiji FACT on Saturday night.

The Nausori Town Council says the fuse of the lights blew up.

This is not the first time that the lights have gone off at Ratu Cakobau Park as this has happened a few times during major soccer tournaments and thousands of fans and the teams had to wait for repair works.

The match on Saturday night had to be stopped for about 20 minutes for the electricians to fix the fault.

The Nausori Town Council says they have put up a new transformer and the incident on Saturday night will not be repeated.

The Council says the lights will also be brightened before Ratu Cakobau Park hosts the Inkk Mobile BOG next month.
