Residents of Nasinu can expect major changes to its town boundary after the Ministry of Local Government handed-over a draft town planning scheme to the Nasinu town council.
Nasinu town council's special administrator, Mosese Kama said the town planning scheme is something new for the council and the proposed subdivisions and zoning would contribute to the development of the town.
The council will have a three-month consultation period Kama said with the residents and landowners of Nasinu after which they would proceed with the planning scheme developments.
Meanwhile the Department of Town and Country Planning director,
Losana Rokotuibau added that the rise in population, development of buildings and businesses has opened up the need for a new policy direction for Nasinu to allow further development.
The scheme is planned for 30 years she said and will follow a three month consultation period with the residents as it relates to zoning of residential areas and town boundaries.
There are also new zones she added for informal settlements and solid waste transfer station and mangrove protection.
