The Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai, and his delegation visited the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis to meet with two Fijian naval cadets currently training at the prestigious institution.
The RFMF says Midshipmen Atile Naroba and Osea Melibua are participating in a rigorous four-year cadetship program, which combines military training with academic education and culminates in an undergraduate degree.
They say the cadets’studies are complemented by active participation in extra curricular activities, including representing the academy in rugby and other sports.
They add cadets outstanding performance and dedication have earned them praise from both their peers and faculty.
Major General Kalouniwai says he is pride in the achievements of the two midshipmen, commending their commitment to excellence in both academics and athletics.
He also highlighted the significance of their journey as representatives of Fiji on the global stage, emphasizing the role of their training in shaping future leaders for the RFMF.
Major General Kalouniwai says the dedication and hard work demonstrated by Midshipmen Naroba and Melibua reflect their character and bring great honour to the Republic of Fiji Military Forces and the nation as a whole.
He adds their success showcases the value of international partnerships and the opportunities provided through Fiji’s collaboration with the United States. Major General Kalouniwai emphasized that as Fiji continues to contribute to regional and global security efforts, the success of its cadets at esteemed institutions like the USNA reinforces the nation’s commitment to cultivating a highly skilled and capable military force.
