Shooting of a major American reality TV series, called Stranded With A Million Bucks is now well underway in Taveuni.
Viacom confirmed that the series is about ten cast members who are stranded on an island with nothing but the clothes on their back and a million US dollars in cash.
Those who survive for 40 days will split that money as their prize.
What’s the catch? They can buy any supplies they want, but everything is crazy expensive ‑ and comes out of their prize money.
Speaking from Taveuni earlier today, Executive in charge of production for Tollbooth TV, John Davis said they have used about 150 Fijians for the production and they are really happy that they have given back to the community in Taveuni.
Davis said Taveuni is a great location.
The total cost of production is confidential at this stage.
He also said that the Fijian government and Film Fiji has done a great job in marketing Fiji and offering great initiatives.
Meanwhile Davis said they also saw that there was a lot of need for assistance when they arrived in Taveuni after Tropical Cyclone Winston.
He said a lot of houses and agricultural crops were damaged after the cyclone.
Davis said the production has been able to provide a lot of employment opportunities after the cyclone and this has assisted the people in rebuilding their homes.
They also assisted in repairing some of the roads in the area.
