Maintenance work is expected to be carried out at all military barracks around the country to comply with OHS standards.
The government has allocated $330,000 for this initiative.
The Republic of the Fiji Military Forces will continue to support the UN Peacekeeping Operations in conflict zones around the world to promote peaceful resolution of conflict with an allocation of $77.3 million while $2 million will go towards the Blackrock Integrated Peacekeeping Centre and Peacekeeping Mission.
Another initiative includes $350,000 for the purchase of a survey boat for the Navy’s Hydrographic Unit and $300,000 for specialised medical and dental equipment for RFMF Health Support.
The government has allocated $96.7 million to the RFMF.
The major increase of RFMF’s budget also sees the increase in operating expenses for greater travel and improved communication, purchase of goods and services to better equip and prepare RFMF personnel.
