A Geotechnical report has suggested that the land identified for the construction of the new Nausori Hospital is not suitable to maintain the structure.
Minister for Health, Dr. Ifereimi Waqainabete has confirmed this saying for safety reasons the plans for the construction works have been curtailed.
He says they have now started with maintenance work at Nausori Health Centre.
Waqainabete also confirms that two government quarters that were usually occupied by doctors in Nausori will be used for some health services.
People have raised concerns that Nausori Health Centre is in unhygienic state and needs immediate maintenance work. Some people have also told us that the waiting area for patients needs attention as it looks dirty and the health centre is too small to accommodate thousands of residents.
