Eight men accused of allegedly launching an attack on police officers last August got a scolding from Suva Magistrate Liyange Wikaramasekara for delaying court proceedings today.
The Magistrate told the men that they can’t file alibi statements as and when they pleased.
He told the men not to fall asleep in court if they were representing themselves.
Jone Vakarisi Junior, Tevita Bulanaivalu, Ledua Gudru, Sekove Serukalou, Jese Sorovi, Toni Sokoiwasa, Chanel Antonio and Mark Ross are charged with going equipped for theft, criminal intimidation, damaging property and resisting arrest.
They allegedly struck a police car with iron rods and cane knives and also stoned the vehicle with the officers still inside and unable to get out.
This happened along Mead Road in Nabua.
The case will be called again on the 27th of this month.
