The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s side have suffered a heartbreak 21-14 loss to France in the semi finals of the HSBC Madrid 7s tonight to extend their tournament losing streak to 22 tonight.

Lack of support play and communication proved too costly for Fiji as France capitalised and came from behind to clinch the win.

Fiji scored the first converted try in the 3rd minute through Joji Nasova before France replied 2 minutes later with a converted try to lock the score at 7-all.

Iowane Teba scored another converted try after the halftime hooter sounded to give Fiji a 14-7 lead at the break.

France came back stronger in the second half and defended well, forcing the Fijians into committing basic errors which they capitalised on and scored two more converted tries.

Fiji had a chance to lock the score in the final minutes of the game but France scrambled in defence and won a turnover inside their own 22-metre line.

Fiji will now play the loser of the second semi final between NZ and Argentina in the 3rd place playoff at 5.18am tomorrow.

The Men’s Cup final will be at 6.26am tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Fijiana 7s will take on Great Britain at 11.17pm tonight in the 7thplace playoff.

Australia will take on France in the Women’s Cup Final at 5.49am tomorrow.
