Hard work has paid off for 19-year-old Sumit Kumar as he attained the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School’s Dux Award for 2024.
In an interview with fijivillage News, Kumar says he has always been driven by his passion for learning and his desire to challenge himself academically.
He says he has always set high standards for himself to make the most out of his education while balancing with extra-curricular activities.
Kumar was also the MGM Primary School Dux in 2019 and wanted to continue this consistency at high school, as well.
The 19-year-old says he had to make a lot of sacrifices to achieve this milestone, including not going to parties and travelling overseas with his family.
He scored 388 out of 400 in the external examination.
He got 99 in Accounting, 99 in Economics, 99 in Pure Mathematics, 91 in English and 94 in Computer Science.
Kumar wants to become a chartered accountant and help his family business grow further.
He has dedicated his award to his parents, family members, friends, and teachers.
