Marist Brothers High School and Suva Grammar School have been crowned overall winners for the boys and girls after day two of the Suva Zone 2 competition at the TFL stadium.
Its two gold medals and two zone records for Marist Brothers High School sprint king Banuve Tabakaucoro.
Tabakaucoro has broken the Senior Boys 200 metres record, coming in first in a time of 21 seconds.
He broke Niko Verekauta’s record set in 2006 which stood at 21.29 seconds.
Suva Grammar School’s Lepani Naivalu came in second and had to settle for silver in the 200 metres final in the last hour.
Earlier this afternoon Tabakaucoro won the 100 metres Senior Boys final in the Suva Zone 2 Athletics meet, setting a record of 10.40 seconds.
Tabakaucoro beat Suva Grammar’s Lepani Naivalu who came in second in a time of 10.50 seconds.
Meanwhile in the girls division Suva Grammar School’s Suliana Gusuivalu upset the favorite in the 200 metres Senior Girls event.
Gusuivalu beat her fellow schoolmate Paulini Korowaqa.
Looking at the overall medal tally:
In the boys division, Marist took first place with 22 gold, 20 silver and 6 bronze.
Suva Grammar is in second place with 11 gold, 11 silver and 14 bronze and Rampur College is in third place with 3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze.
In the girls division, Suva Grammar School won with 20 gold, 12 silver and 8 bronze while Lomary is second with 8 gold and Rampur College is third with 5 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze.
