Marist Brothers High School won the Best Dance Group Competition Award at the Fiji Link Dance Competition last night.
They also won the Best Choreography Award, the Best Male Dancer Award was given to Jonathan Suka and the Best Male Dancer Runner Up Award was given to Iowane Nasalo.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Attorney-General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum urged students to continue doing what they are doing even when they are out of school.
Korovuto College won the 1st Runner Up Dance Group Award and the 2nd Runner Up Dance Group Award went to Rishikul Sanatan College.
Neha Shweta Chand of Korovuto College won the Best Female Dancer Award while Rita Reetika of Sabeto College won the Best Female Runner Up Award.
Fiji Latter Day Saints Church College won the Most Popular Dance Group Award while Khalsa College won the Best Costume Award.
Bucalevu Secondary School of Taveuni won the Fiji Link Commendable Performance Award while another Commendable Performance Award went to Dilkusha High School.
The film “Lie Reward” which is tells the story of a girl who was beaten and raped after refusing to be part of an alcohol drinking session with her school mates won the Best Film Award at the 14th Kula Film Award.
Students of Tavua District Secondary School focused on the rape and sexual assault of minors in their film which is a major concern in Fiji.
Aiden Caine of Saint Thomas High School won the Best Actor Award while Cynthia Sharan of Swami Vivekananda College won the Best Actress Award.
The Best Director Award was taken by Ifraaz Ali of Swami Vivekananda College.
The Best Painting Award in the Arts category went to Seungmin Paik of Swamy Vivekananda College for the painting ‘At Midnight’.
The painting depicts a depressed, uncomfortable and over pressured woman. The night setting of the painting signifies loneliness, peacefulness and a moment of reflection. The woman is crying seeking comfort and healing from all the atrocities around her.
There were 300 pieces of paintings over 6 months..
