What began as a humble homestay accommodation with two rooms in Nabouwali, Bua, has now expanded to seven rooms, with plans underway to build a million-dollar hotel.
The owner, Alipate Radrodro, says Lote’s Homestay is the only accommodation of its kind in the area since they opened three and a half years ago.
Radrodro says they started the business after Cyclone Yasa, seizing an unexpected opportunity as it was not initially planned.
He says they have an average occupancy rate of about 70 percent throughout the year, primarily catering to government officials and NGOs due to the many projects in the province.
While speaking to fijivillage News, Radrodro says they have plans to begin construction of a 16-room beachfront hotel in the first quarter of next year.
The hotel will include a swimming pool and private rooms.
With the business environment in the Northern Division gaining momentum and plans to establish a tourism industry, Radrodro’s venture is poised to be a pioneering development in Nabouwalu.
