SODELPA Leader, Viliame Gavoka says they need to provide housing to the people who are moving to urban areas as they are most vulnerable to child prostitution, child pornography and child sexual abuse.
Gavoka says his grandson has told him that his friend is in a family of 15 and they live in one room and this is a reality for some parts of Fiji.
He says overcrowding is a threat and encourages these types of practices.
Gavoka is urging government to include them in a program to find adequate housing for everyone.
Gavoka adds he is also getting reports that a lot of children are living with their grandparents and parents should now take responsibility for their children.
Gavoka made these comments while deliberating on the motion for Parliament to agree to ratify the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Sale of Children, Child Prostitution and Child Pornography.
