Lolohea admits to killing defacto partner in his caution interview

56-year-old Timoci Lolohea’s caution interview was read in the Suva High Court today which revealed that Lolohea got into a relationship with his niece.

Lolohea is charged with a count of murder and it is alleged that he killed his defacto partner by stabbing her with two knives.

The alleged incident took place on the 20th of March last year at Nasilivata Street in Nadera.

Interviewing Officer, Taitusi Lualala revealed in court today that Lolohea told them during the interview that he admired his niece the way she worked at his company and that’s where he got attracted to her.

According to the caution interview, Lolohea sometimes used to drop her in the night and once he was told by his niece that he will have to leave his wife if he wants her to become his girlfriend.

Lualala informed the court that Lolohea told them that he came to an agreement with the 22-year-old woman that they will have a child together.

Lolohea and his defacto partner’s child was born in 2015 and the woman started working as an usher.

Lolohea also revealed in his caution interview that his defacto partner started to come home late in the night and used to tell him that she was working overtime, however her pay was for normal hours.

Lolohea also said in his caution interview with police that he saw love bites on his defacto partner’s breast while she was sleeping.

The court was told this his defacto partner later took off from Lolohea’s house while he was in Lautoka and also took his laptop and other items.

Lolohea also revealed in his caution interview that his defacto partner had told him she was pregnant but it was not his baby but her boyfriend’s.

The court was told that Lolohea was jealous as the defacto partner did not respect the vow they had taken.

According to the caution interview, Lolohea had admitted warning the 22-year-old woman that whenever he finds her and the boyfriend, he will kill them.

The Interviewing Officer revealed that Lolohea told them during the interview that he was on a mission to find out whether his defacto partner was going to marry her boyfriend.

Lolohea revealed in the caution interview that he went to Nasilivata Street to check on her and the whereabouts of her boyfriend.

Lolohea said that he had with him two of his kitchen knives.

Lolohea revealed in his caution interview that when the 22-year-old woman came out of the house, she refused to answer his questions and he had stabbed her on the breast and as she was defending herself, he kept on coming after her.

He also stated in the caution interview that he stabbed her again while trying to open the gate and tackled her while they were outside the compound and continuously stabbed her until she could not move.

Lolohea also stated in the caution interview that he looked back to check if she was really dead before he drove away.

The trial continues tomorrow.
