Loitering and vulnerable drunk people remain a concern despite continued patrols by Police at night in Suva

Many people are commending the continued presence and patrols of the Police officers in the heart of the Capital City and other heavily used areas at night however loitering and vulnerable drunk people remain a concern.

Fijivillage has witnessed loitering by many people, including children, in the middle of the night and people being drunk and incapable to even walk and find their way home.

The main issue of concern is people who are in town for no reason in the middle of the night and these are the people who are likely to prey on the vulnerable people coming out of nightclubs, bars and restaurants.

We have seen Police officers confronting a number of people hanging around in Suva City in the middle of the night, and telling them to go to the place they want to go or to just go home. However some of these people continue to loiter around.

With the increased Police presence and patrols, there has been a decrease in attacks in Suva City and people are also more aware of their own responsibilities of drinking responsibly.

People are hoping that the Police patrols and surveillance continues, and the groups involved in the attacks are caught.
