About 35 locals have started their employment with Mindpearl an independent owned global call center at Kalabu Tax free zone in Nasinu.
Mindpearl CEO William Patterson said Fiji's International Airline Air Pacific and Pacific Sun commenced the outsourcing of their telephone reservations to them as of yesterday morning.
Patterson said the first local call was received at 7.02am yesterday and up until 10pm they received over 200 calls.
He confirmed they are only dealing with local calls as they will start receiving calls from Australia and New Zealand from the 18th of this month.
Some of the Air Pacific workers who were made redundant earlier this year have started work with Mindpearl.
Air Pacific CEO Micheal Nacola said they decided to work with Mindpearl to improve their service delivery and mainly to create employment.
Fiji Trade and Investment Bureau (FTIB) CEO Annie Rogers said more employment opportunities are expected as more overseas investors are expected to arrive in the country later this month.
Mindpearl is expected to provide employment for over 3000 locals in the next five years.
