Residents of Nadawa are advised that there will be a live tsunami siren test from 2pm to 3pm today that will be conducted at the Nadawa Methodist Church, but evacuation is not required. The National Disaster Management Office says the change in timing is to enable their team and relevant authorities to test the effectiveness of the satellite-generated warnings.
They are encouraging agencies and communities living near the location of the tsunami siren to use this siren test to organise and test their tsunami response plans. They are also pleading with the public's understanding as they continue to build the Government's commitment to improve its state-of readiness for any tsunami event.
