The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team survived a scare to beat France 26-19 and keep their hopes alive of playing in the cup quarterfinals of the Singapore 7s.
A loss for Fiji would have seen them knocked out of the cup competition after being beaten 21-12 by Ireland in their opening match.
Vuiviawa Naduvalo was the star for Fiji after scoring two tries in the second half.
Waisea Nacuqu and Joseva Talacolo scored the other tries for Fiji.
France led 12-7 at the break.
Fiji will now have to beat Japan in their final pool match at 8.22 tonight to qualify for the quarters.
In other matches, France beat Japan 36-14, Scotland defeated Wales 26-24, New Zealand edged Argentina 12-10, England beat Spain 19-14, Australia defeated Samoa 26-17 and USA edged Kenya 12-10.
The cup quarterfinals will kick off at 4.28pm tomorrow, semis will start at 8.13pm while the final will be played at 11.28pm tomorrow.

The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s side has been beaten 21-12 by Ireland in their first match of the Singapore 7s.
This was Ireland’s first win over Fiji.
Jordan Conroy scored twice in the first half as Ireland led 14-0 at the break.

Ireland dominated the first half with majority of the possession as Fiji struggled to get their hands on the ball.
However, the 2 time Olympic champions started the second half on a positive note with back to back tries from Vuiviawa Naduvalo and Joseva Talacolo.
With Fiji not able to score the much needed third try, it was Ireland’s Terry Kennedy who scored after the hooter to seal the historic win.
The National 7s side will now face France at 5.06pm in their second match and play Japan at 8.22pm in their final pool match.
