Minister for Agriculture, Dr. Mahendra Reddy says that they will be training part-time litter officers who will be going around both urban and rural areas.
He says that they will be trained on how to collect evidence such as photos and videos of people who are littering the waterways in the country.
Dr. Reddy says they cannot say how many officers will be hired at the moment but they are hoping that these officers will help limit the amount of rubbish thrown in the waterways and roads.
He says that it's usually adults who are offending and not kids.
Dr. Reddy also urged the Municipal Councils to be aware of what goes around in their respective areas and not waste funds on hiring contractors for clean up.
