Lifeline Fiji has recorded 47 suicide cases and 65 attempted suicide cases from January to July this year.
According to Lifeline Fiji, of the 47 suicide cases, 36 were males and 11 were females.
Psychiatrist Selina Kuruleca has highlighted that Fiji like every other country consistent with global trends, has the highest number of completed suicide in the 15 to 30 year old age group.
While speaking on the Virtual Vigil organised by Lifeline Fiji to commemorate World Suicide Prevention Day, Kuruleca says these are the people who are supposed to be in their most productive years of life.
She says they see the number of completed suicide committed this year compared to the same period last year has reduced.
Kuruleca challenges those who think that the best solution is not to look for help, to just try and reach out because there are people out there who still care.
