All Blacks and Highlanders forward Liam Squire will miss the rest of the Super Rugby Aotearoa season due to a recurring knee injury.
The Highlanders have confirmed the news with no time frame given on his return to rugby.
Coach Tony Brown says Squire has worked hard to get back in shape but his knee has flared up again and they have to give him time to try and get it right.
Squire had knee and hip surgeries last year and signed for the Highlanders after cutting short a two-year deal in Japan.
The Highlanders take on the Crusaders at 6.05pm Friday while the Blues play the Hurricanes at 6.05pm Saturday.
