Former All Black loose-forward Liam Messam has returned to New Zealand having signed on to play for Waikato in the 2020 Mitre 10 Cup.
The 36-year-old spent five-years abroad, playing in Japan with Toshiba and France with Toulon.
Waikato Coach Andrew Strawbridge is delighted to add such an experienced hand to his playing roster for the upcoming campaign.
He says Messam is a very talented and vastly experienced player, who can play in a range of positions in the loose forwards.
Messam made his debut for Waikato back in 2003, while he also played 179 games for the Chiefs, and wore the All Blacks jersey on 43 occasions.
Mitre 10 Cup is expected to resume in September.
