Former All Black Liam Messam will be hoping to play his 181st match for the Chiefs this week when they face the Crusaders in the final of Super Rugby Aotearoa.
The veteran was called into the squad last Tuesday after it was confirmed that Kaylum Boshier, Mitchell Karpik and Simon Parker had injuries that would sideline them for the rest of the season.
The 37-year-old came off the bench in last weekend’s 31-19 loss to the Blues for his 180th match.
Speaking to stuff.co.nz, Messam says he does not know if he will get to 181 but he will help the boys prepare for the big final this week.
He says he was proud of the effort by the Chiefs players last week against an experience Blues side.
Messam co-captained the Chiefs when they won the Super Rugby titles in 2012 and 2013.

The Chiefs will play the Crusaders in the Super Rugby Aotearoa final at 7.05pm Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Brumbies will face the Reds in the final of the Super Rugby Australia at 9.45pm Saturday.
