A 28-year-old man of Lautoka will spend six years, 10 months and 20 days behind bars for raping an 11-year-old girl in August, 2017.
High Court Judge, Justice Chamath Morais started with 11 years of head sentence and then took into consideration factors set out in mitigation, plea of guilty before the conclusion of the trial and time spent in remand.
The man and the girl were sleeping in the same house on the night of the incident.
The court was told the man took the girl to a creek and raped her.
A non-parole period of four years and 10 months has been set.
