The Lautoka Mill

The Fiji Sugar Corporation’s Lautoka Sugar Mill is fully operational, after stopping for almost 8 hours yesterday.

FSC has confirmed that this was caused by some issues in the boiler feeder which was fixed at 8.30am today.

The Lautoka Mill is expected to crush around 485,000 tonnes of cane this season, of which 60,000 tonnes is from Rarawai Mill sectors.

Growers within the Rarawai Mill sectors were given the choice to start early or wait for the commencement of the Rarawai Mill in a week’s time.

FSC CEO Graham Clark says a total of 116 lorries were weighed in at the Lautoka weigh bridge at 8am today out of which 78 lorries were from Lautoka and 38 from Rarawai and Penang.

Lautoka Mill has crushed close to 3000 tonnes of cane over the last two days.
