Fiji Sugar Corporation's Lautoka Mill achieved a milestone crushing 40,004 tonnes of cane and manufacturing 4,229 tonnes of sugar, last week.
In a statement the Fiji Sugar Corporation says that the last time this milestone was achieved was in 2009, almost a decade ago.
It says that the sugar produced is the highest weekly achievement in the past 10 years despite Fiji's largest sugar mill encountering start‑up problems in July with starting of the crushing season.
FSC Chief Executive Officer Graham Clark acknowledged the mill management and staff saying for their continued commitment and perseverance, which is the back‑drop of the outstanding result.
