Small and Medium enterprises now have a platform to sell their produce after the launch of Shop Pasifika’s pilot programme yesterday at the Suva Flea Market
Shop Pasifika Founder, Rakin Wahed, says his six years of hard work and dedication to set up a platform that encourages and motivates small businesses to earn through online mediums has paid off.
Wahed says they want vendors to grow their presence online so that they can reach a wider audience in Fiji and overseas compared to a physical store.
He says if in future there is a crisis like COVID-19 vendors will still be able to operate and earn for their families.
He says to do a proper pilot programme they require at least 10 businesses joining their website however, currently they only have four.
Pacifique Artisans Collective Co-founder, Shakira Koy-Macdonald who owns a clothing and art store at the Suva Flea Market says she is interested in the presentation Shop Pasifika.
Koy-Macdonald says she wants her art business to flourish as the art market in Fiji is not given the value it deserves and because of this, she has failed to cover the cost of her art shop.
She adds that it is a great initiative for smaller vendors to explore and find a market that will allow her to do better in her business as she wants people to realise the value of art.
Cheap Games Fiji, Pacifique Artisans Collective, Gifts Souvenirs and Handicraft Boutique and Velosight Oz are the four vendors currently active on the platform.
