Former Suva lawyer Shazran Abdul Lateef has told the Suva Magistrates Court that he is a user adding there is no place in Fiji that can cater to people like him.
Lateef also pleaded not guilty to 2 counts of unlawful possession of illicit drugs and one count of re-offending while on bail.
Lateef further told the Suva Magistrates Court that for a simple possession charge people should be sent to rehab and not to remand. He added he has family over from overseas who are willing to help him get into rehab overseas.
Lateef was allegedly found with 1.8 grams of methamphetamine and 4 grams of marijuana on the 10th of this month.
He is also charged with re-offending while on bail.
DPP lawyer Saif Shah has also filed an application requesting to vacate the trial dates as they are intending on charging another person with Lateef.
In this case, Lateef is charged with the possession of 0.0063 grams of methamphetamine on the 14th of August this year.
Lateef has been further remanded in custody and the case has been adjourned till this Thursday.
