Former Suva lawyer, Shazran Abdul Lateef

Former Suva lawyer, Shazran Abdul Lateef will have his bail hearing this Friday before Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili.

In this latest case where Lateef was denied bail, he is facing a count each of being found in possession of illicit drugs and breach of bail.

On the 17th of July this year, Lateef was granted bail by the Magistrates Court and a month later he allegedly re‑offended.

Lateef has been further remanded in custody and the case has been adjourned to Friday.

Lateef represented himself today when he made the bail application. He told the court that he had appealed the bail ruling in High Court earlier but has asked his lawyer to withdraw that application.

He was allegedly found with 0.0063 grams of methamphetamine at his Nailuva Road home on the 14th of last month.

This is the fifth case where Lateef has been charged and produced in court for possession of illicit drugs.

He was bailed in the previous four cases.
