The largest bio mass plant  in Fiji is now in operation.

While opening the new Nabou Green Energy 12 Megawatts Bio Mass Power Plant in Nadroga, Attorney General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says it is the first time that we have a bio mass plant in Fiji that will contribute to the supply of electricity to the Fiji Electricity Authority grid.

Sayed-Khaiyum says the FijiFirst government has spent unprecedented amounts of money to ensure that every Fijian gets connected to the electricity grid.

He says there are still some people in Fiji that still do not have access to electricity.

Sayed-Khaiyum says that the government has an objective that by 2030, 99 percent of our electricity needs will be provided by renewable energy.

He highlighted that close to $100 million was invested in the project and none of the money used was derived from Fijian sources.

Sayed-Khaiyum has also confirmed that on the 4th of next month, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama will give land owners of Tropic Wood and Fiji Pine bonuses of over $1 million.
