Starlink has played a major role in connecting the unconnected to the digital world, with thousands of Fijians around the country placing their orders for a Starlink Kit.
According to Telecom Fiji Limited, which is the authorised seller of the Starklink Kit box in the country, they have a large number of sign-ups from all over the country, including the outer islands and the government department.
Telecom Fiji CEO Charles Goundar says their partnership with Starlink is to compliment their coverage on their fibre and 4G network, and the uptake has been excellent.
He says a Starlink kit box would cost around $1,300 to $1,400, including the installation cost that will be done by their team.
Goundar says they received great feedback from the communities where they have installed Starlink.
Recently, the village of Naraiyawa in Namosi, which is 40km from Suva, received an internet connection for the very first time after installing a Starlink box in their village.
This initiative was through the great work of the Naraiyawa Women’s Group, which has now opened up a new source of income for them, as they provide internet access to the rest of the village through voucher sales.
